The Challenge
The customer ran a small, but successful and rapidly growing business, but expressed concerns about employee turnover. They needed a solution to help them better retain staff so that they could continue to drive business and achieve their company goals. The customer did not have an internal HR department, and was unwilling to take on the additional overhead costs associated with building out professional HR capabilities in-house.
The Bright Idea
BrightMatter was engaged to deliver an HR Outsourcing platform for the complete management of the customer’s HR strategy.
To learn more about the company and uncover the reasons behind the high employee turnover, BrightMatter HR supplied a dedicated HR professional to carefully study the business and understand its workforce.
In an attempt to bridge the gap between employer and employee, BrightMatter organized regular employee engagement surveys to find out what this unique team valued in their working environment.
The goal? Utilize our personalized HRO approach to improve staff satisfaction and performance.
The Impact
While only taking a couple of minutes for employees to answer, the survey provided valuable insight and served as an effective first-step in improving employee satisfaction and retention.
The survey allowed BrightMatter to uncover critical information about the workforce. Things such as recognition and work-life balance were very important to most staff members – but had been lacking in the work environment.
With BrightMatter’s recommendations, management began allocating weekly work-from-home hours and started an ’employee of the month’ program to incentivize better performance and drive recognition. The customer was able to identify what really mattered to their workforce, and got behind it.
In order to track changes in employee engagement over time, BrightMatter re-implemented the survey on a quarterly basis throughout the year. Employees expressed sincere appreciation that their opinions mattered to company management.
While only one small component of BrightMatter’s HRO solution, the survey program contributed to the overall improvement of staff satisfaction, performance and a drastically lower employee turnover for the customer.
